This is my first time ever coming up with one of these, so its not too hot... i just wanted to share what i do with other people and get some input.

=====================GUIDE======================

The Demonic One’s Easy Dye and Loot in pre-searing trick

The path to easy dye and loot is simple in Pre searing, but it can still be very challenging. I find the best build for this trick to be a Warrior/Monk, because of three reasons. 1/ you’re going to want to be able to survive on your own, because (despite the fact that this isn’t actually a Gold exploit or trick) you still earn a lot of gold for the amount of monsters you kill. This is a difficult task for anyone under the lvl of 3, so I wouldn’t recommend doing it unless your confident of your abilities or lvl 3 or higher. 2/ you’re also going to want those smiting spells, because this has a lot to do with the undead being your enemies. 3/ the ability to tank will be invaluable if you need to retreat because you aggro’d too many enemies.

Now, the first thing your going to want to do it get all of your collector’s armor. Its not a necessity, but every bit helps. When your confident in your armor lvl and self defense skills, its time to venture into the mouth of the beast. Go into the catacombs through Ashford Abbey. Now, I find its best to go into the actual catacombs through the gargoyle entrance (for those of you that don’t know where that is, make a right as soon as you come out of Ashford and go through the little alley between the building and the wall… you’ll end up in the hall of the gargoyles.) If for no other reason, then to simply kill them for their skulls and EXP. Who knows? You may even get lucky and end up with a vial of dye right then and there. Anyway, clear that first room of gargoyles, then head back the way you came. But turn southwest instead of southeast, so that you go past more gargoyles and eventually run into a restless corpse or two.

After clearing them out, go over the bridge the skeletons were guarding and into a room with four more undead monsters. Kill them as well. Remember that you can salvage any Skeletal Limbs and Gargoyle Skulls for bone if you want. Anyway, after that room is cleared, you have two choices. You can A/ fight the Tomb Nightmare. This is kind of obnoxious unless you’re a necromancer because of the Flame Geysers along the way. Or B/ continue onward to the next two stops. If you pick B, then skip the next paragraph, because it describes briefly how to kill the tomb nightmare easily.

If you picked A, I hope you are a necromancer. Otherwise you’ll die 2 times. No doubt, it’s unavoidable. Take an immediate right after entering the room with four Restless Corpses. When you continue for a bit, you’ll see a devourer run into a trap and get blown to pieces. A glitch at this point is, 75% of the time, the devourer doesn’t die. It just continues on its merry way, and eventually joins with a buddy. Kill them both for their interference with your plans. At the second flight of stairs, you’ll notice a green circle at the bottom and a devourer corpse near it. This is why you needed to be a necromancer. If you come anywhere near that green circle, it will explode in your face and kill you. If you DO happen to be a necromancer, you can move close enough to summon a bone minion from the devourer’s corpse. The minion will set off the trap and get killed instead of you. Now just keep walking until you see a double flight of stair and a black figure in the middle of the open at the bottom. Approach the bottom of the stairs and summon the minion to set off the trap. Wait a bit to recharge your mana, then resummon. You’ll want the extra help. The Tomb Nightmare at the bottom is a lvl 4 tanker creature, so having the minion run distraction will help. The creature doesn’t give the greatest loot a lot of the time, but it’s the highest lvl monster in the catacombs, So killing it will give you plenty of EXP.

If you chose B, or are done with section A, then keep going past the room with the 4 Restless Corpses and a make a right at the mural of Grenth. Follow this path and kill the spiders that you encounter. You’ll soon come to the entrance to a temple. Now, we’re going to cover both roots, but we might as well get the difficult one out of the way. Make a left turn to the south and head that way.

Soon you’ll come to a section in the catacombs where the terrain forms a cross, giving you three choices of paths. Go straight ahead first if you have the Prize Moa Bird quest. You’ll find the corpse there and fight a few Crypt Fiends, which are basically baby versions of the Tomb Nightmare. After killing them, head back out and turn to the west. You’re in for a fight now. This hallway is packed to capacity with Raging Cadavers (lvl 3 undead with a penchant for long range attacks) and Restless Corpses. Turn them all into dust. This is where having some Smiting spells or smiting staves come in handy, but they aren’t necessary. Fight your way down this entire hallway, and you’ll eventually come to a Skeleton Boss. Kill him to gain a 2% boost to all your attributes for the duration of your life in this map. Head back to the cross intersection and go due east. This will lead you to another skeleton packed hallway, but much shorter. Kill all these foul minions of Grenth. When you’re done with that little exercise, head all the way back to the entrance of the temple you saw earlier (remember that you can’t bring up the minimap in the catacombs, so try to keep track of where you are.) Go into the castle now, and fight your way to Oberan the Reviled. Oberan will help you in three ways. 1/ he has a quest for necromancers. 2/ he gives two very useful curses that you’ll probably be using the rest of the game. And 3/ he is the last person you have to talk to for the “charr in the catacombs” quest.

After talking to Oberan, Necromancers will have to deal with a small quest. Just move slightly south and wait for your enemies to come to you. There are a lot of them, so don’t expect an easy battle, but they only come one at a time. There isn’t much strategy involved in this one, so this is all I have to type.

When that’s over with, move into what many players call “The Citadel”. Other than the hallways, this is the single largest gathering of undead monsters in the pre searing. Run in a counter clockwise circle and exterminate every one of them. When you’re done, pat yourself on the back. You’ve completed one of the more difficult tasks in the pre searing. Of course, something like this won’t pose a big time threat to a level 6 or so character, but still. From all those monsters, I’ve gotten at least 2 dyes and 10 magic items worth hanging onto in each run. I’m not sure if that’s pure luck or what, but I’m willing to bet that it isn’t. And hey, you should have gotten at least 1 magic item hanging onto, because that skeleton boss has a tendancy to drop good items. If it didn’t work, then rinse and repeat. The good thing about these runs is that they don’t require a lot of time, nor a lot of effort.
