I've found a few things that normal MM guides don't have.

First I'll start with stats (typical but can be changed to fit ur needs, I like this build personaly)

Death Magic - 12 + 1 + 3
Soul Reaping - 10 + 1
Healing - 8

Some people use a superior rune on Soul Reaping to get more Healing points, I wouldn't advise this but try it out if you want.

Skills-
1. Deathly Swarm
2. Flesh Gollem (Elite) or if you don't have Factions use Animate Bone Minions
3. Blood of the Master
4. Taste of Death
5. Heal Area
6. Animate Bone Horror
7. Animate Bone Fiend (I tried using Bone Minions instead to save energy but noticed that it was much harder to keep them alive in AoE places like Tombs even if there are two of them)
8. Rez (Rebirth is great in PvE or Ressurection Signet in PvP

Equipment - Ghails staff is a great green to use, but if you're poor this is for you:
First get the collectors item outside Elona Reach (5 Minotar Horns)
Put some mods on it (I use +5 Insightful and max Shelter for a Bortaks Rep you can also dye it black, it looks very nice)
Armor: Now a lot of people will say that if you have factions you should get Minion Master's Armor, I don't think this is the best choice. I've gone with Cabalists, and 15k Canthan looks very nice dyed pink.

Using Cabalists allows you to spam spawn, the max is of course 10 minions but when you spawn over that the minion with the LOWEST health dies. It auto heals your minions and allows you to spam Blood of the Master along with Taste of Death then killing the 'Tasted' minion which should have the lowest health. When healing your minions after a fight they tend to move around after a few seconds, before using Heal Area move in any direction a little and they'll regourp behind you in a closer area.

I've also found that soloing with an MM is some times hard but can be very nice. Farming spots with small mob groups is always a plus but if your having trouble try adding a Healer Henchy and a Fighter Henchy. Farming daggers outside of Maatu Keep is a great example. I got the daggers after two tries, it takes a while and you have to move slowly but it does work. (Kill healers first, then Mages or Mesmers and then w/e else is left)

Hope you found this guide a little more enlightning than the others out there, have fun mastering your minions!!!
