Post subject:  Stygian Veil Farming

Here is a quick guide to Farming Stygian Gems out of the Gate of Anguish.
Build breakdown: R/Me
Skills:
Arcane Echo
Echo
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Tripwire
Serpents Quickness
Quickening Zephyr
Energizing Wind

This is a basic skill bar. Most of the traps are interchangeable, and you can fit what traps you want to use in this build. Barbed Trap and Tripwire are reccommended, and Flame Trap is not reccommended because of the AoE update.

Attributes:
Wilderness Survival: 16 (12+3+1)
Expertise: 14 (11+3)
Beast Mastery: 6

The points put in Beast Mastery help keep Energizing Wind up longer, although this is not required. Those points can just as easily be placed in Expertise, raising the rank to 15.

Equipment:
Any staff that has +15 or 20 energy is required. Sucessfully trapping this whole run without the extra energy is virtually impossible.

Useage:
From the Gate of Anguish, go out the portal Stygian Veil. (located farthest south) Upon entering, run east. There should be two groups of enemies patrolling. Wait until the group traveling north separates from that group in the crevice. Keep running east until you come to the Whispers Informant. Talk to him and gain the Anguish Hunt. This will provide quick Lightbringer farming as well. After talking to him, talk to the Adept of Whispers and accept the quest he gives you. After accepting this quest, run north-east until your aggro circle is out of range of the opening by the Whispers Informant and Adept of Whispers. Wait until the group of Stygian Hungers stop running, and CAREFULLY move south along the eastern wall until you come to the opening. Immediately turn east and travel around the middle until you come very close to the Stygian Hungers WITHOUT aggroing them. At this point, you should be facing north. Drop down Quickening Zephyr and Energizing Wind. After these spirits are down, cast Arcane Echo followed by Echo. While casting Arcane Echo, hit Serpents Quickness BEFORE Arcane Echo is done casting. Drop down a desired trap (Barbed Trap is reccommended due to the lower energy cost) and cast Echo once again. Then drop down another trap (again, Barbed Trap is reccommended) so that you have three of the same traps on your skill bar. (Ex: Barbed Trap, Barbed Trap, Barbed Trap, Dust Trap and so on) Continue to lay down traps until Quickening Zephyr goes down. (Should be 47 seconds after laying it down) At this point you know you have about 40 more seconds before your first traps start to spawn. Lay down traps for about another 25-30 seconds, recasting Energizing Wind if needed. Once you have decided you have enough traps, back up a very little bit and lay down Quickening Zephyr once again. Run up and touch your aggro circle to the Stygian Hungers, then run around the middle back up to where you waited for the hungers to stop running. You should be able to take out 1/3 to half the group by yourself. Continue this pattern, as more spawns will come from the south. With luck, you will get 1-3 Stygian Gems per run, which sell anywhere from 2-5k a piece. The whole run should take no more than 10 minutes. I hope this helps any rangers who finished Nightfall looking to become useful in the Gate of Anguish. Good luck, and happy farming!

Note: More echo rangers will make this farm go much faster. It is reccommended to go with 2-4 rangers to complete this run fully. Talk with those in your party to figure out which spirits will be taken, and make sure someone brings Edge of Extinction when you are with another person. This will also make the run go more quickly and smoothly. Remember, this is just a guidline, feel free to come up with your own build. Be creative!
