not I but I'm curious...people on the boards seem to really think there is a working way to dupe items.

edit: apparently they've already done a bunch of bans as a result of discovering the exploit at least that's what Gaile claims....so it sounds like they have a way to track it and it's probably not a good idea to risk this on a main account. My bet is they have a way to detect duped items as each item has it's own ID or something...so dupeing an item would create two with the same ID.

apparently it has something to do with explorable areas...that makes me suspicious though since there's a popular scam revolving around dupeing items in explorable areas. The number of people believing this to be real makes me wonder though.

It did exist, it existed shortly after they gave you the ability to reconnect to a map if you got disconnected.
The dupe basically consists of you exploiting the ablity to reconnect to a map.
However this has been nerfed now and alot of people are getting bans, possibly a rollback.

So the threads recently are just the eventual reaction to people realizing that something was up with people having 100's or even 1000's of ambraces?

oh and gaile stated quite clearly that there would be no rollback.

Just FYI: We will not be doing a rollback. There is no need to do so. We banned a significant number of players involved in the exploit, and we're continuing to research to ascertain whether other bans will be necessary. But according to Mike O'Brien -- who oughta know -- we won't need to do a rollback.

I can see why people want it, but if you had it you would probabley get bored of the game.

There are still ways to dupe... and there will always continue to be ways to dupe. This rule solely applies to all RPG games.

I know of one method that still works. It works on the same principle of the "disconnect" dupe that was mentioned earlier. As invalidtarget said, MMO's are very vulnerable to item duplication. There are probably dozens upon dozens of item duplication methods that work right now, just waiting to be discovered.

And most all of them work because of latency between the client and the server, or from overloading the server, causing it to run slowly.
