Apparently the sticky coating will last forevery on weapons. Whether or not you switch them in the game. This is prettly nice for range weapons because it roots a target. Here is the zam link to the sticky coating.

Can anyone else confirm this is bugged in the game?

There's corroborating evidence since it's also on mmowned. I'm all gatherer so no real input.
