Can someone help me?

When I try to play FFXI, about once every half hour I get knocked off fullscreen... I called support, and they said one of my background apps was doing it. He said I should disable them all, then renable them one at a time and see what was the problem. But when I disable them all, the internet doesn't work. So there's no way to tell which one is the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Help?

You need to tell which applications are running and which you are turning off.
Before doing anything I would run a Internet Virus scan to make sure its not a virus. Then turn the applications of one at a time until you find the one that is causing the problem. If the one that you turn off is required to run the internet try to reinstall it. GL that all I can do with the info you gave.
The more details you give the better someone might be able to help you.
What kind of PC
Which Program
How well is your PC running
Speed
Ram
Disc Space
Which ANti Virus
WHat kind of connection
How good and reliable is it
The more details the better than answers will be.

^^ My PC is Windows XP Home, 2.33Ghz, 512 Mb's of RAM, an excellent cable connection, it runs really well and the antivirus I use is Norton Antivirus.
It can't detect any viruses... I'm pretty sure this is one of those strange background windows apps that run all the time. There are so MANY of them. The stuff that starts with startup, though, is:

sgtray
realsched
SNDMon
jusched
SMax4PNP
qttask
PCMService
mm_tray
mimboot
igfxtray
HPWuSchd2
hpcmpmgr
hkcmd
gcasServ
DVDLauncher
tfswctrl
ccApp
msmsgs
DSAgnt
aim
HP Digital Imagining....
HP Imagine Zone Fas...
Microsoft Office
I hope this helps. xx I have no idea which ones of these I can shut down safely.

Ok, you may want to wait for some1 else's suggestion but you should probably disable all programs, then re-enable one at a time to find out which one is the internet. Then re-disable all and enable the one that is the internet. Then do what the support person said and one by one re-enable to find ther problem. It would probably take a long time but it's worth it ^^ Another way out though if you want to use it is, you could use XUnleashed to keep FFXI windowed and then just get used to it that way. Then you can talk on aim while playing

. Hope you figure it out, good luck

wow all those programs running, they must take up alot of memory too.
Goto Start>>>Run>>> type msconfig >>> goto startup
unselect any programs that you do not need, such as any p2p networks or maybe your virus scanning, they often cause problems with FFXi with me.

u should download and run adaware. its free, most likely u have spyware hogging resources, adware may eliminate some of those programs in the startup tab of MSCONFIG

All the ones labeled crap disable them. Also with config will automatically
pick what it needs to have on to run so hit Disable all and go from thier. XP is pretty stable so you should be able to figure out which porgram of these runs the internet.
I think it is
gcasServs.
Do this as a Last Resort
Format your drive. How long has it been since the last one you have done. Very Important Make sure you have the Disk or follow your PC directions on Formatting expecailly if your PC has XP in the Hard Drive as a Partition. Good rule for Formatting is about every 6 months or so.
I have gone over a year since I last Formatted my PC. I am so Lazy but my PC is working just the way I want it too so I dont want too formatt since it takes a few days to get it back to the way you like it not to mention that Ill have to download FF11 updates again >.<.

Again Format should be your
last Resort and is always a good idea to find out what is causing the problem so you dont do it again.

well besides taking something off, yo u can always run it in windower. What I used to do is go check what's running under my accound or user name and just stop application tree from there.
