do anyone know where one could download or even buy the japanese version of the POL client?

If you ask on a forum like killingifrit, ffxionline or allakhazam you'll probably find someone willing to help with the file.
The file is also fairly available on Winny (japanese p2p software) and ed2k.

And S-E doesn't care if anyone make the POL client available for download, they've actually made an official statement that it's okay to share it. (Why? Because you need a valid license to use it.)

From what I understand the IME is still built into the NA client, people have said glitches have made it appear before. It'd be nice to figure out a way to just enable it, instead of having to do everything in Japanese. Actually there was talk on the windower forums about trying to do just this.

The reason why SE doesn't allow everyone to just download it is because they need to pay a seperate fee for the IME.
