Does FFXI cost more $$$ if you have more than one character? And, does tetramaster cost more money monthly?

Do they cost more? Yes, but it's $1/month for additional characters, and you won't have time to really play more than two, which is a stretch in itself. I have a main and three mules which see some time but are completely focused on gaining gil for the main, and I'd guess the same to be true of many players. The game's so time consuming that you really can't maintain a phalanx of characters if you want to advance at any pace.
