A few FFXI questions since I´m interested in testing the game.

1: Is it easy to get into the controls and type of gameplay?
2: Does it ever get boring whe grinding?
3: I read about a 1hand control for FFIX, can the game be played with only 1 hnad o.O

1) Yes, since you start solo you have plenty of time to learn. If you also read a few n00b guides and the manual you'll have no problem.
The world is a lot larger than the WoW world so it takes more time to learn everything though, but by talking with your fellow players that's easily overcome.

2) All mmorpg get boring while grinding. However, as FFXI is a party oriented game as opposed to the solo in WoW you make friends and those make the game a lot more fun.

3) It's possible I guess but it's easier to just use a ps2 gamepad.

I find myself logging on just to have fun with friends some nights. I got my first job to 75 about a month ago. I haven't exp'd another job since then lol. Got a few merits but mainly I spend my time in "sea" and "sky" farming with friends ... just having a good time.

Get in a good linkshell as soon as possible. Check out www.guildportal.com and you can probably find a good linkshell with an opening there. Just make sure they don't care about your level before applying. That's how I started out. Social LS all the way until lvl 70, then I picked up a sky LS, a Sea LS, a limbus LS, a dynamis LS and a HNM LS. You'll know what those are in time ^^
