FFXI Log File Stored on you PC!?!

Chat messages in FFXI do pass to the server. SE records everything, both in logs stored on your own PC (dubious reports as to if SE actually retrieves these, but what you say does get stored along with your position data). That means that there'll be a bunch of you going:
I read this on another forum. Is there a possible method of purging this or is this a false statement? If this is true anything you do with anything on this site is recorded and could be found at any time.

Yea they are in the Temp folder which is usually:
C:\Program Files\Playonline\Final Fantasy XI\Temp\
As far as I can tell, chat data is in the log, along with some encrypted info, but the encrypted stuff looks like its probably things like system messages and effects received from spells.
If your worried about them, I suppose you could lock them and make them read-only, but then you can't pull up the chat log anymore, you can only see about 5-6 lines at a time, before they disappear. Also ive heard people say you can turn encryption on for that folder so that SE can't decipher the info.
