Windower Problems

Ive been using windowers for over 2 years now. And it was all gravy up till this morning. I rebooted my pc (wiped hardrive) and i re'installed all my ffxi games / verison updates / expansions and that was cool. Then i went to www.windower.net to download 3.26. I downloaded it but now for some reason it wont "Window'ize" . Like the game boots up to full screen and all with no windows, but it has that little top left info that says like

F11 Toggel Lighting
F12 toggle FPS

that crap, as if the windower were working...

Anyone know what the deal is?

I suggest asking the creator him/herself, because this sounds like a technical problem. You should report this to them so they can either help you, or fix it.

There is a setting in the windower ini that allows you to play in fullscreen mode. Check it out, but if your still lost post in the windower forums in the support section.

edit:

heres the windower.ini

Code: Select all

[Windower Settings]

#Version may be NA, JP, or EU
Language=NA

#Defines the window size, for fullscreen, set to the size of your desktop
#Standard resolutions are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, etc.
X Resolution=800
Y Resolution=600

#Sets the console key. Note that older versions of Windower interfered
#with IME when ~(tilde) was the console key, but this has been fixed.
Console Key=`

#True fullscreen is where Windower is loaded (and therefor plugins work),
#but you can't alt-tab. The advantage to this is you don't get graphical
#artifacts but you can use plugins. This was a requested feature.
True Fullscreen=0

#this should only be set if you're trying to debug a plugin you're
#developing. Setting this will disable the Windower exception handler
#so that you can analyze exceptions in your plugin.
Debug=0
"True Fullscreen" is the value you are looking for. Most likely, 0 = false and 1 = true

If you play in True Full Screen mode though, you can NOT ALT+TAB out of the game. If you want the game to run in Full Screen mode, allowing you to play AND ALT+TAB out, you need to set the resolution to the same as that of your desktop.

Speaking of resolution that might be your problem, be sure your window resolution in POL config is set lower than your desktop resolution, that might be causing the difficulty if both resolutions are set to 800x600 it might default to fullscreen mode. I think I noticed this when using windower the other day. Try upping your desktop resolution (ie. 1024x768) and lowering the resolution on windower (ie. 800x600).

If you right click on your desktop and click properties then the settings tab, you'll see what your screen resolution is. The settings in your POL config need to be equal to or lower than that. Currently my desktop setting is 1024*768 and I use windower at 800*600. I have not found a way to use the windower settings at a higher resolution than my desktop settings without first adjusting them. If you have no idea what I'm talking about I suggest you check out this link:

Hope the info helps
