GTs Goldsmithing Guide
Posted: October 25th, 2004, 5:55 am
This guide was written from a combination of experience and help from a lot of differant crafters. It is by no means a "cheapest way to max out Goldmithing" guide. Some stages in Goldsmithing require some substantial investment. Now, without further ado-
GTs guide to Goldsmithing from 0-70
0-10 BRASS INGOTS 3x copper + 1x zinc + fire
Copper ores are relitively cheap at either the Goldsmiths Guild or the Blacksmiths guild. (from 8-18 each depending on day/supply) On certain days the Goldsmiths guild has Zinc ores in stock for around 250-290gil each. If you cannot buy zincs at the guild, you can kill worms in Zeruhn Mines or even try to compete with all of the miners for Mining points.
Even though competition is high in the Mines, you can come out with a lot of extra profit to pay for your crystals and pickaxes if you have the patience.
You will need advanced support until at least skill level 5. After skill level 5, you can use regular support. Make those ingots and save as many as you can for the next phase of Goldsmithing.

Break Time Buy a copper hairpin from the AH and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Recruit. Congratulations, now get back to work!

10-13 BRASS SHEETS 1x brass ingot + fire
You will need nearly all of those ingots you just made. If you mined up all of your zincs, you should have enough gil to buy all your crystals. If not, make some extra stacks of ingots and put them on the AH. You should make a good profit and they sell relitively fast.
13-18 SILVER INGOTS 4x silver beastcoins + fire
Make sure to get advanced support for these until 15.
Silver Beastcoins can be quite expensive. You can break even with these as long as you buy your silver beastcoins for less than 5k and your fire crystals for less than 3k a stack.
Don't sell individuals unless you plan on waiting overnight for the profits. Stacks sell pretty fast and even with a few breaks, you will come out even.

Break Time Buy a brass hairpin from the AH and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Initiate. Congratulations, now back to the grind!
_____________________________________________________________
18-20 SILVER INGOTS 4x silver ore + fire
This one you will start seeing a profit from. Buy your Silver Ores for no more than 420 each from the AH or, if you are patient enough, mine them up. This part is fast, but selling in stacks it will provide a good income for the next part of your journey.
20-27 SILVER ARROWHEADS 1x silver ingot, 1x copper ingot + wind
Make sure to use Advanced support until at least 23 or 24 to keep breaks at a minimum.
This part is going to definately be a loss. Sell your stacks of silver arrowheads to the San d'Orian AH (They go pretty good there) Buy your Copper Ingots or craft them from Guild copper if you have the time.
If you are a woodworker (at least 21) you can make a really good profit selling stacks of the quivered arrows at the Jeuno AH. (and skillup to 30 woodworking at the same time)
OK, now here is where crafting starts to really turn in a loss...
27-33 SPARK SPEAR 1x copper ingot, 1x brass spear + earth
At least at this stage you won't have to worry about the cost of crystals.
If you have your woodworking skill around 18ish you can gain that too by making the brass spears. ( 1x ash lumber, 1x brass ingot, 1x linen thread + wind ) They will cap out your woodworking skill at 22. Otherwise buy your spears and ingots and get to work. Make sure to get advanced support until 30. Sell the spears to the AH (very slow) or to an NPC for a loss.

Break Time When you hit 28 make a silver hairpin (1x silver ingot + wind) and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Novice. Congratulations, now you can start amassing Guild Points!!
_____________________________________________________________
Now we return to ingots for the next 7 levels.
33-38 MYTHRIL INGOTS (part 1) 4x mythril beastcoins + fire
Get advanced support until 35.
Mythril Beastcoins can be expensive at the Bastok AH, so buy them at the Jeuno AH. Other than that this stage is almost exactly like the silver ingot stage.
Mythril Ingots sell much faster in Jeuno as well.
_____________________________________________________________
Break Time At level 38 buy a chain gorget off the AH and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Apprentice. Congratulations!
_____________________________________________________________
38-40 MYTHRIL INGOTS (part 2) 4x mythril ore + fire
This is another stage where you either make a ton of profit or just barely break even. If you have the patience (and suicidal tendancies) you can mine in Ifrit's Cauldron for Mythril ore (more common there), or buy them off the AH and pray they have enough.
40-48 SILVER BANGLES 3x silver ingot + fire
Get advanced support until 45 to keep brakes at a minimum. This is a frusterating stage. Be prepared to dump a lot of cash into this. When your inventory gets full, desynth the bangles into ingots.
_____________________________________________________________
Break Time At lvl 48, make a Mythril Ring (2x mythril ingot + fire) and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Journeyman. Congratulations, you are almost halfway to mastering the craft!
_____________________________________________________________
48-52 JEWELED MYTHRIL RINGS 1x level 2 gem + mythril ring + earth
You can try to desyth these at lvl 52 (with advanced support) for some skillups. Otherwise place them on the AH and leave them on your mule overnight in a bazaar.
52-58 MYTHRIL CUISSES 2x mythril sheet 1x ram leather + fire
Oy... This is a purely wasteful stage. Craft next to the Blacksmith Guild and sell as many as you can there. When they stop taking them, dump the rest on a poor unsuspecting Armor vendor.
_____________________________________________________________
Break Time Buy a Mythril Gorget and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Craftsman. Congratulations, by now you should have some of the l33t Goldsmithing gear.
_____________________________________________________________
58-64 PLATINUM INGOT 6x platinum nuggets + 1x platinum ore + fire
If you like, grow the nuggets yourself if you can not afford them. Otherwise, you can mine platinum ore in Palborugh Mines or Ifrit's Cauldron, or buy the rest from the auction house. Save at least half for the next stage...
64-70 PLATINUM RING 2x platinum ingot + fire
Once again, another wasteful stage. I hope you saved some ingots because this is going to be a bumpy ride.
_____________________________________________________________
Break Time At lvl 68, buy/make a Mythril Breastplate (2x mythril ingot + fire) and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Artisan. Congratulations, this is the end of my guide!

I hope you enjoyed my guilde. Hopefully it helped a few people.
I'll update this as I get higher and have time.
