Nope, you can't play FFXI on the new 'slim line' models of the PS2.

well, if you use an external Hard drive you can, using USB. Next question tho, how bad is hte performance because its USB 1 and not USB 2

I got the new PSTwo and the FFXI HDD.... it was onsale for 29.99. So im looking where to plug this up but no luck, so I just formatted it and used in my Computer but if it is possible to put it in a external case and run it from the usb.

Any more info on this?

Sony are not giving suppirt on HDD in the new PS2, you can get an IDE to USB Case but last time i used one it worked about 1/3 of the speed so i wouldn't get it

even if you did i doubt it would work due to it being USB and the game looks for an IDE drive

my advise, Play on the PC Version (better gfx) or get the older model PS2 can get them in the uk now for about £50 (around 100$)

I remember reading that SE's advice was to look for an older model PS2, and they've said they have no intention to support the newer model.
