Ive tried using Windowed Mode, Dialog Mode and both together and I run into the same problem; the game always starts in Full Screen after I hit PLAY in POL... I remember testing out Windowed mode like 6-8 months ago and if I remember correctly the game should start in like a 800x600 window on my desktop and not full screen?

Question, you never mention if XU hooks the game correctly, can you run scripts when it fails to window the game?

Everything runs fine. And maybe this is how its supposed to be... I just recall when I tried window mode a long time ago that the game resized on my desktop so I could see my desktop as well. Where as now the game is in "Windowed" mode when you can access other programs from behind the game. However whenever you do this and come back to FFXI the menu bar at the top becomes visible and if you click on it the game crashes.

Check both the windowed and the dialog checkboxes.
Make sure your desktop resolution is higher than your in game resolution.
