This is probarbly the most easy exploit you will ever find in SWG.

Note: I have only tested this with the tier 5 missions from Dath, i have not tried the pvp missions, only pve.

If you get a smuggling mission that is off planet, instead of using your normal fighter to get from Dath to the other planet, use the veteran reward Yacht (Surosuub Luxury Yacht, 6 month vet reward), this POB is tagged as a non-combat ship witch you probarbly know from the ISD entering, but it also bugs the smuggler missions.
Just launch with your yacht, hyperspace to the system that you need to go to and wait for about a minute or less, and voila, mission complete, you don't even have to land or anything and you will not get attacked (sometimes you don't even need to hyper to another system but just wait it out).

Seems like launching in a non-combat ship to avoid combat would be next to obvious.

That's not the point, launching in the yacht makes the mission bug so you don't have to go through all the travelling, it will complete while you're in space.
