The Secrets of Camping Revealed?
A Final Fantasy XI Guide and Secret Tool
I have been doing some in depth study about Notorious Monsters and the Place Holders for them and found a little secret about how the NM might be poped Faster, Sooner and in Certain Locations.
**One thing to keep in mind while reading this post is that when a window is open for the NM top spawn, the game or server already has a designated time or place withing the game for the NM to spawn, meaning that 7 PH's have to be killed in order for the NM to spawn.**
In my study of camping these NM's i have come to find like any other adventuree that there is a PH(Place Holder) that hold the spot for the NM to Spawn or pop, but what people don't know is How long and where might this NM pop?
During this extensive study i have come know that if the PH is Killed it holds the spot for the NM to spawn making that the next location, although any other NM campers would know this trick. Once the certain PH is killed the time does vary on the next pop for that location some places being 5 and some places or NM's being 16 mins on a regular basis.
During the latest update on FFXI they integrated the new Radius or Area that the PH(Place Holders) and regular monsters could not only pop but stay within this certain Radius. Some might ask well what does this mean? It means that if you take a monster out of its wandering area or the area that it does spawn and you happen to zone or it goes innactive the monster will dissapear and re-appear once again within its walking radius 5 minutes after it dissapears.
Something that people who have found this out on the latest update is that when an enemy is claimed then zoned it dissapears leaving that PH(Place Holders) area to become avalible once again. The place holders spot or Radius does become avaliable once again leaving it possible for the NM to pop in that place.
Does FFXI designate when it will pop before it does pop? Where it pops? and is there so many PH that you have to kill before the NM pops?
I believe in my study that the NM is already designated to pop after a certain ammount of PH's are killed in a certain location.
So for example if you have a single PH in a single area that the NM can pop then that place holder has to be killed a certain ammount of times before it can pop in that place, so there is a certain order or number of PH's that you have to kill before the NM can pop in that Location.
So what does this mean for me? or what can i do with this information?
In my last study i have came up with some theories that might effect the way that NM's might be poped and how they might be poped faster and sooner.
For my first study i did an experiment on the NM-> Megalobugard
In order to camp Megalo you have to know the PH locations and the location that the NM pops. It is said that this is a Lottery pop NM meaning that he will pop by "Choice" or just whenever. This NM pops in a small Radius area with very few places he can spawn in this area, there are two PH for this NM in the area which will pop every 5 mins apart for eachother after they have been killed so each one will pop every 15 mins. so if you were to camp Megalo you would have to kill the PH everytime they pop and hope that Megalo might pop instead of the PH, this is a regular camping stradegy for most people. Something that i have found out with the new update is that if both places holders are spawned and are in their Radius or area of pop that the NM cannot be spawned. This is true in most cases, but what you can do to decrease the wait time for Megalo to pop is if both of the PH's are spawned you can Claim both run and zone the monsters, after you zone the monster will dissapear for 5 minutes leaving the PH areas vacant for something to replace the monster that disapeared with something new. So upon testing i had both of the Place Holders pop and then i zoned making the PH's disappear because they were not withing their walking radius leaving both PH areas to be vacant, i ran back to the area that the PH's would spawn waiting for another pop, the two PH's pop at the exact time 5 mins later, i zoned and ran back again, this last time Megalo poped as a PH in that given area. I ran these tests many many many times and when i zoned the PH i never had to wait more that 15-20 mins for Megalo to pop in the PH's spot. Just for the reccord the Window for Megalo is every hour meaning that if he is killed you have to wait 1 hour before he can be spawned again, when i do run these tests they are done consecutivly meaning i get claim atleast 5+ times in a row doing the same theory everytime.
After running these tests i decided to camp Megalo like any other person would waiting for the PH to spawn kill it and wait 5-10 mins for the other to spawn kill it and wait for the next PH to spawn becoming a very long dreary process. Upon doing this i found that it takes 20 mins-1 hour for Megalo to spawn in the PH's spot.
Therefore decreasing the time camping the NM and increasing your chances knowing that Megalo will pop withing the 5 mins that you zoned the monsters. If the calculations are done correct this should drop the wait time on the NM's being poped by 45%. With the knowledge of knowing when the PH will spawn you can always have your Macro's ready to spam provoke or Stun on the monster just before the pop.
Now for the second study that i took on to back up or even prove my theory i decided to do it on Lord of Onzozo also known as LoO.
Lord of Onzozo is a Notorious Monster that has a Window of 21-24 hours meaning that after the Initial death it cannot be poped or will not show up 21-24 hours after it has been killed. with that knowledge in had i therefore ran a couple tests seeing if i could get him to spawn before a certain window or time.
Upon arriving i knew the time or window that he could pop and the time of 16 mins for the PH to spawn in this location. for the reccord LoO has a very small spawn area with only one PH to be placed before him to spawn, so either LoO or his PH would be poped in that single location. So if the window is open and their is the possibility that LoO can spawn then here comes my theory into play. What you would have to do once the first PH spawns is Zone the PH and hurry and run back to the area of spawn, like i said earlier if you zone a monster it only takes 5 mins for another monster to replace the one that you zoned, 5 mins after you zoned the origional PH another one will spawn in its place, making you voke run and zone and return to the spawn point or radius of spawn. After doing this a consecutive ammount of time the PH keeps on getting replace by something new and decreasing the time that LoO will pop, instead of having a PH spawn every 16 mins it will pop every 5 mins, cutting down on time that LoO can spawn. so if LoO is 15th spawn on the list to spawn you would cut down 14 PH's 5 mins each apart making the pop for LoO possible withing 25+ mins. instead of a couple hours. Upon testing this theory i was able to pop LoO 30 mins three times in a row using my information provided. After doing so i went back to killing the PH's and the spawn time for LoO was nearly 30 mins to 3 hours therfore proving my theory about being able to spawn the NM's sooner and more efficently.
Thanks for the time and consideration and i hope you like this Guide/Secret, as for the Premium account its all up to you guys if this was helpful or not to your Guides/Secrets i hope you will take in consideration of time and thought that is spent on this post.
Thanks again
