When upgrading armor or any equipable, base your decision on how much it affects your main stat. For example, I am a conjuror, so I only upgrade an item when it has equal or better INT that the item I have. Every little point adds up, from armor, jewelry, weapons, any activatables... only occasionally have I needed to settle for a non-INT item like a chest piece due to out leveling it. Be picky!

In EQ2 it is easy to choose the wrong armor because the stats are all over the board. I've seen heavy armor with INT and WIS, and very light armor with STR. Why waste that precious slot on a stat you don't need? Honestly, my staff may only hit for 30 piddly points but a better damage staff with extra STR isn't going to turn me into a tank. It's the +18 INT on that staff that has helped bump my INT and therefore my power.

This may be obvious and it's not original but it has served me well. I'm always checking people's equipment and stats and I don't see a lot of players getting the most out of their equipables.

I also use Fetish's ui mod that adds drop down menus for your favorite searches. An easy text file edit and you have one-click access for specific vendor items. I have a nifty search for attunable, orange/orange, INT.

I would have to disagree to a certain extent. You have to watch out for your main stat AND power on an item you are thinking about upgrading.

WIS is my main stat and I can't tell you how many items I have equipped to find out that my overall power went down. This is because the new item had more WIS but either no power or not as much.

On the SOE boards there are priests comparing using all WIS to all POWER to WIS+POWER, and the WIS+Power usually wins.

i almost completely disagree with you, yes it is good to max your stat out, but also, lots of classes dont have one main stat. like monks for example, they need str and agi along with scouts. and if you are a caster, you also need agi and sta to some extent cuz you cant cast if you are dead as a doornail. and for all classes, you need some good resists for those casters. but like msboy1 said, yes you also need to pay attention to power/health

I am sure this topic will be debated all over the place, but I will share my personal experience as a lvl 50 in multiple classes.

For any class, resistance is important on raids with AoE mobs. But for the epic T5 raids, you really need to get your resists above 5k for it to matter much. I am not saying that lower then that is not going to help, but it won't keep you alive.

As a mage class, INT+Power> anything else. If you are getting hit as a mage, you are dead anyway. Added agility may be nice but it certainly won't save your life. Mitigation for a caster is meaningless. You will never get it high enough to make a difference.

As a Scout, AGI+power is king but Mitigation will matter a lot too if the mob turns or if you are soloing.

As a fighter calss, STA and STR are both important. just keep in mind that STA raises your HP and STR will raise your damage. Damage will help you keep agro but HP will help you stay alive. And if you are the main tank, HP will matter a LOT more then damage.

As a healer, WIS+Power> anything else. Total power is your biggest concern by far. When you go out of power the group dies
