I have 1 log file here: C:\Program\Sony\EverQuest II\logs\eq2log_CHARACTERNAME.txt

and another here: C:\Program\Sony\EverQuest II\logs\SERVERNAME\eq2log_CHARACTERNAME.txt

I haven't noticed this before, but are they supposed to BOTH be active when logging? It's weird, but I can get tells from one player in 1st log and tells from another player in second log... wtf is up with that?

No it is a SOE bug. Startup EQ2 and it makes the one in in your log file, type /log (log off) and /log again (Log on) and it will create the one in your /logs/servername directory which is the one that everyone uses.
