If you already lost your immunity, you still can go afk safely by doing the following step:

Just go to a bird station / post in ROK / i believeit might works on clouds as well in KOS.

Just get yourself into the flight, then minimize your EQ2 window... once minimize your toon would actually suspended in mid-flight until you open your EQ2 window again. (Make sure your screen is minimize... not just changing focus).

Once your toon is suspended in mid air so high up that no one can attack you.

Now you can go bio or whatever and then come back to continue your flight.

Can members say yay or nay to this being moved to a confirmed section.

It seems the servers are a tad picky at times on this, I've seen people both suspended in mid air in the middle of the pathing track for the mount, but I've also ganked Q's myself that tried this but didn't get somthing right, and ended up landing and standing there with the AFK tag on.

I don't play on PvP, but in my experience, when I come back I am indeed standing in mid air. However, the griffon/cloud is gone and when I move I simply fall to my death.
