A question on the story

In LoTrO, are there appearences by characters such as Legolos?
And when and where does this gamje take place? all of middle earth, or just a certain area?

So far I have had quests where I had to talk to Strider, Gimli, and Gandalf.
The game takes place just before the Fellowship of the Ring in Eriador which includes Bree, Misty Mountains, The Shire, The Lone Lands, Angmar, North Downs, Rivendell, Ettenmoor, and a couple other areas I can't remember right now.
You can't go to places like Gondor or Rohan yet, but it looks like you will in future expansions (they're on the big map).
