Got your dates wrong.
From the Founder FAQ:
# When does the Open Beta start?
A: The Open Beta head start for Founders is currently planned to begin on March 30th. We expect to permit the general public access to the Open Beta starting April 6th.

Of course, early access is on the 30th, open beta lasts till april 24th i think it was.
If you are going to preorder for the 'founders" offer then you have 30 days after retail to enter your founders key to get the offer. (9.99$/month or 199$/lifetime)
You enter your founders/preorder key first, then when retail comes and you get your retail box you enter that key next. Your open beta characters you get to keep to retail, only if you preorder.
btw: if anyone has not read, they are splitting servers. EU/US servers, people in EU cannot play on the US server and no US on EU. There is a list of what countries are included in the EU side. Aus/NZ people are playing on the US server.

If Aus/NZ people are playing on US servers think im going top have the same problems i did with WoW i mean Huge Pings i hope this will not be the case. 180-300ms im gettin on WoW thinking probably the same for this game maybe more.. No Matter this game should be wikked fun.

you would think the lag problem would be less, blizz, while in them i trust my soul, have been slacking, even good ol' D2 LOD has been having huge lag problems...back on topic

The servers aren't all set in the US, for whoever posted something about high pings.
