currently to shoot something you have to click on it and hold mouse1 down and keep your curser on the target.

Well, if you hit the tilda key while you have mouse1 down and have the target under your reticle you will autoaim on said target even if you aren't facing the target. Just have to have it targeted long enough to pull the menu option up. Keep your mouse1 button down, even if you are reloading. It "unlocks" if you stop firing.
