You can see that he throws a gernade and a forcefield generates around him. This must be what bungie was hinting at when they said in the 1up / egm tournament "Don't make me use my X button"

dammit.....i can't watch it right now, i'm at school, but isn't there always a force field of some sort around the halo soldiers? it happens all the time..... when i get hit, or when i hit someone else it flashes.

no that was just a shield, this is actually a forcefield which which repells the blast in essence and saved him.

so is it like a timed button press like in sonic 3 and beyond where you press the jump button again and an insta shield came out?
