I heard there was a hack out there that changed the local memory value of your hit points, thus turning you into god mode.

Hit points are processed server-side. I'm not sure what effect changing the hp value in your pc memory would have, if anything, but doing so would likely get you banned in short order. Writing such a mod would be easy, but almost certainly pointless.
