1) Find a player you trust
2) Wait until the message "Server will be going down in 5 miniutes"
3) Trade with him.
4) Trade all your gold to him.
5) When the servers come up you will both have the gold.

Note this is a bug that works in some games and can be patched. Be sure to use this quickly.

Ummm... is this actually CONFIRMED, or are you just assuming that because some older games had it, VG will have it as well?

I mean, the old "swap item before character saves" is the oldest dupe trick in the book and has been around for ages. I really really doubt that the Vanguard team just completely forgot about the whole issue.

So once again, has anyone actually managed to pull this off, or not?

I don't have Vanguard atm but was in it from Beta 3 till release.

As is SWG when you crossed a zone line, or chuck in VG strange things can happen there.

So find a chunk/zone line in laggy area, not hard to find if I remember.

Do a trade with some item to test. The player who recieved the item in the trade jumps accross the chunk/zone, both players kill VG.

We used to do funny stuff in SWG like putting multi pearls in sabers, multi splices etc.

Next one was finding a spot on a chunk/zone line that you can put a house on in housing zones. Place your house there and put up a vendor. Many many exploites in SWG were done in places like this.

These were just some possible things that I wanted to try out. I do not have the game atm, nor a buddy key so I can not try anything atm :(

it would work if they would put the downtime messages back up

i accidently kind-of-duped on a rollback today (not during announced downtimes). i put the events into a list hopefully so people could understand how it worked. i apologize if it's confusing but i simplified it the best i could. it's about 3:30AM here so i'm way too tired to try and duplicate it now, but feel free to give it a shot. this is just a list of events i did. they are not actual steps and i am not saying you will be able to reproduce. you might, but i can't say you'll get results.

1. Regular main char buys skills, sells items after for money
2. Create secondary char
3. Send money to secondary char (via mail)
4. Retrieve money on secondary char
5. Logged on to main, main char was rolled back to pre-step 1 location, money and items (that is, before the skills were bought and items sold in step 1)
6. Rolled-back main char sent pre-step 1 money to secondary
7. Secondary retrieves money
8. Main char is restored to POST-step 1 (where it should be, NOT rolled back anymore)
9. Secondary char keeps money sent from rolled back main char PLUS money/items from regular main char.

i assume this all just had to do with sending money during/right before a rollback. therefore i assume doing so right before they shut down servers will work too. it's a classic dupe method but it seems to work.

I tried the above methods, and also altered forms several times, now I have not had a rollback, I did die once, and I think I might have crashed a area, however there was no dupe. Why are you posting this, and other things in confirmed area. I know you need money, but advertise, every once in a while something really good will come here. However false advertisement is lieing, and not only could you get sued, but you are not helping us at all by allowing this to continue to happen. I have had several things help me from this site, however I have noticed several contradictions, like this something being posted in the confirmed but not actually being confirmed! please moderate with a bit more moderation!

just a confirmation to all whom are uncertain of this or argued opposingly: There ARE system messages concerning server reset every time. Typically, the normal server resets are around 4AM, PST; however they often vary (thus, give or take about 1 hour). The system messages for server reset (100% certain of these), at least begin when 15 minutes prior to reset approaches. Then, there IS a 5 minute warning saying find a safe place and log out now. I just witnessed these this morning, 2/8/07, and I crashed right around what would possibly have been the 1 hour warning, thus, there might even be the same 60 min. warning as in most SOE games. Now, whether the dupe works or not, I cannot say; I'm merely confirming the system messages. (If you happen to not see them, reconfigure your chat tabs and enable the box that says "System Messages") Thus, there most definitely is a clear downtime indicator. Also, I will test this for confirmation in the near future (hopefully they don't fix it with a patch today, or nerf anything else.... sigh... SOE... they need to plug their poop-chutes).

Still no one except the OP has come forward to verify that this actually works... (well actually the OP didn't spesificly say that much either).

I'm a little disappointed if any wild rumor makes it onto the confirmed forum.

apparently any wild rumour makes it onto confirmed and apparently discussion, and confirmed are linked, someone is asleep at the helm, look for bans, so that they can bring in some more cash, without us complaining!

tault_broden is a mass poster of stuff he gets off his guild. he posts exploits for multiple games onto the site and usually only does the first post and not anymore. everything else is left to the community

Doesn't work.

Please take this down.

Ive personally confirmed that this doesn't work.

Ive checked skills that Ive leveled ~30 seconds before server goes down. It gives a message "Lost connect to game server" and your character stands around for a moment. I come back in and the skill is at the level I got to at around 30 seconds.

People who got it to happen caught a fluke during an unschedueled reset or crash probably. Im assuming they disconnect everyone and THEN save.
