Found this by sheer accident last night....

Summon your horse & walk backwards down the mountain, though every few steps or before you fall too far, move forward. Repeat the steps above & there you go the steepest mountains safely negotiated......

Can premium members say yay or nay to this being moved to a confirmed section.

Confirmed ... but I thought this was pretty common knowledge, you can do it with a run buff as well.
