Blizzards Policy on Exploitation & Info

Factors included in determining the appropriate penalty:

* Whether or not the exploit is performed intentionally, maliciously, and/or repeatedly
* Whether or not the exploit damages another character, their gameplay, the service itself and/or its economy
* Whether or not an attempt has been made to conceal the exploit's use

If a player is found to have abused/distributed an exploit, he/she may:

* Be given a verbal warning if exploitation is unintentional and no attempt has been made to hide it's occurrence
* Be temporarily suspended from the game
* In extreme cases the account will be closed outright

Bug exploitation that we consider extreme includes, but is not limited to:

* Any exploit that has a severe negative impact on a realm's economy
* Causing disruption in service or intentionally crashing a realm/server

Fireworks suspension info:
*Shortest suspension seen: 30 minutes.
*Mediocre suspension 3-5 hours.
*Longest Suspension Seen: 72 hours.
*Weird one: Lost account access until verified with Blizzard(I had to Fax them a notarized copy of my Photo ID and birthcertificate, so to confirm I was the owner of the account).
*Most extreme punishment: Account closed.

Accounts have only been closed for the following reasons so far:
*Chinese IP addresses
*Speed hacking
*Injected bots/Macros
*Unauthorized access
*Repeated exploitation

I know a few farmers from my clan that got banned for playing from an asian location and so far only chinese have been banned. This has been to prevent farmers, however most good farmers use proxies now.

They ban your CD key. Thought that would be obvious.

They ban Chinese IP addresses b/c the Chinese belong on Chinese servers.

what do you mean by saying INJECTED BOTS/MACROS?
when you generally run a bot?

No. "Injected" bots usually read from the games memory, meaning they are controlling the games functions from outside the game. While macros don't read from the memory they can follow obvious patterns where other players or GM's may become suspious of your repetitive attack patterns.

Hope that helped.

"***Notice of Account Closure***

Hello,

Access to the World of Warcraft account POINT, and any World of Warcraft account
associated with the payment information you have provided, has been permanently
disabled. The account has been identified as having used unauthorized game
modifications and thus is in violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.

Please review the World of Warcraft Terms of Use at
<http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html>, which you accepted when
you installed World of Warcraft and established the account(s). Section 2,
Paragraph C details the limitations of game play modifications and use of any
third-party or "packet sniffing" software. In addition, Section 3, Paragraph C,
parts iii and iv restrict the use of any hack, scripting or macroing software
which obtains information from World of Warcraft to gain a competitive advantage
over other players.

Furthermore, any activities not intended by game design which affect the
economy, the client, player characters or the world itself have a tremendous
negative impact on the potential enjoyment for all players. The effects of these
activities take many forms including a bloated game economy, server instability,
and allowing unauthorized access to accounts, computers, and player data.

As a result, the account(s) will no longer be accessible and will unfortunately
not be reopened under any circumstances.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and respecting our position and
all statutes within the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.

Regards,

Khedris
