Pallies have contained buffs which can be cast individually or by class type. Dont want rogues pulling aggro? Well cast Blessing of Salvation on the class. Now! Before people start flaming that shaman's have this to, remember it was only introduced RECENTLY as the tranquility totem, which was then bugged and only fixed even MORE recently. Now still, remember that this is only castable on the party! ie. you would effectively have to have a shaman in every single rogue group to share these buffs it can supply, but how many buffs can it give? only 1 per totem class. Lets say you have 4 pallies in a raid, they can effectively buff the whole raid and not just the groups they are in. The buff also LASTS longer, and the aura from a paladin is effectively the same as a totem being placed except its permanent and lasts as long as the paladin lives, easily switchible with no cast time, no mana, and no effort at all. gg pallies.
When it comes to pvp, sure a shaman gets the advantage through buffs, but lets not forget that shamans are just as effective as paladins when it comes to burst dps. Does judging have diminishing effects? well shocks do! Mail vs Plate? Kiting vs Stun?
