In the "You're Kidding, Right" category, a mere twenty-eight hours after the Burning Crusade's first level 70 character has shown up:

I can almost taste the salty tears and smell the jealousy from the folks writing our World of Warcraft blog, Legendary Thread. According to Joystiq, one of their brethren has already "dinged 70" -- just 28 hours after the Burning Crusade expansion launched. The French player, Gullerbone, used the help of his guild Millenium to reach bastardize the milestone. By tap-leveling (where a player attacks several mobs and once he has the "tap" other players kill the character, with the instigating player getting the experience yielded) through various zones in the Outlands, Gullerbone (a mage) maxed reached the level cap. In an interview with World of Raids, Gullerbone thanked his guildmates and explained some of the process of leveling to 70.

I calculated a bit. With pure grinding you need to kill around 10 mobs/min to reach lvl70 in 28 hrs. It's not hard to kill at that rate with the tapping method he used, but doing that for 28 hrs is insane

Didn't they say it was going to take as long as 1-60?

i think there is some confusion surrounding that. I believe that the amount of xp is similar that you need, however what people did not forsee is that at lvl 60 killing lvl 58s in the outlands ive been getting 1000 xp rested per kill, which is insane.

You need a little more, than 8 million xp.
Rested xp is ~1000/mob, unrested ~500/mob.

I do all the quests too. This guarantees, that i explore most of the new lands and get some nice gear too. And sometimes i do instances to get even better gear (bye bye T2/T3).
