Few simple Terrain tricks:

Waterfalls:
You can swim up waterfalls, this allows for quick travels and avoidance of winding roads.

Objects:
Small walls, rocks, etc. Mobs will not jump over objects that are in the way, most of the time they will run all the way around. This allows simple pulls or training the mobs so you don't die. I.E. allowing HP/MP regen to fill up.

I actually didn't know you could swim up waterfalls. Simple yet a helpful tip.
