Gold inflation - playing with money overtime : Age of Conan Discussions

Fact 1: As in every Onlie Game the value of Gold (or currency) goes down over the time. Due to Players advancing in levels and beeing able to farm more Gold in shorter time.

Fact 2: the Farming time of Tradeskill Ressources is a constant. meaning it takes you just as long to farm a certain ressource in the first two months of the game than it takes you in later stages.

So my tip: If you don't desperatly need the money and your bank has enough space, hold on to your resscources and blue / purple items.
The amount of gold you can get for these thing will gradually go up over time . selling them, wenn you dont need the gold is basicly wasted money.

Having money that you dont need is also wasted money since its value is doomed to go down. If can spare some coin, go and buy ressources that are cheap at the traders shop.

this is not an actual cheat. i just managed to get stinking filthy rich in wow that way 8)

Maybe for partial points. The fact is true - lower and mid level items tend to go up in value later in the game's life cycle. Try and buy the engineering mats in wow now. It's crazy. Not a cheat, but definitely something you could benefit from.

There's a new patch coming up (I can't say when cause Funcom changes everything last minute) that will make green+ items bind on pickup or bind on equip, so I'd get rid of any items now that you don't want to keep

yes, heared that too. i guess its a good thing.

the technique works a lot better with ressources anyway. especialy wenn you focus on one and constantly buy up the cheap ones at the tradepost to keep the prices high.

Not really practical since the items value increases due to inflation so an item that sells for 10g now but 100g 6 months from now doesnt really net you anything because 100g is worth as much or less then the 10g was when you started.... Oh sure you'd have 90g more in the bank but you'd be able to accomplish the same with that 100g as you could with the 10g (these are just numbers Im pulling out of my !@#$%^* here).. If you got lucky picking an item that later on becomes extremely rare and has a high demand then yes you'd make a killing above and beyond inflation

What does make money is buying up cheap resources and re-selling them at a gain... If you play a lot you can virtually control the market price for any resource with 20g

nay. 1. Item prices are going down. 2. there is no were to put it all. 3. your bank is too small... just too many flaws.

Actually Item prices have gone through the roof since bind on pick up was put in place.., resource prices have increased as well in response to the new economy. If you saved stuff from launh you made a bundle using this method.

Item prices are definately going up. If you don't want to rush things, put your blues and epics on a mule char and check once in a while... no need to dump it all in your main chars bank... if you are patient you make a lot more money, btw.

Dont think this deserves any points.

Holding onto items could make you alot in-time... or it could cost you also...., prices go up and down, because the economic factors that influence price change regularly, and are dependant upon the actions of funcom.

For example. Holding onto an Epic weapon, which is the best weapon in the game, could be worth more in say 3 months than it is today, because of rising demand (more people able to use), lower supply(Bind on Equip changes), and economic growth (players getting richer).

But it could go the other way also.

For Example. Funcom nerf the epic weapon, or introduce a better alternative, demand for the weapon will decrease and you wont be able to sell it at a high price. Economic Growth might slow, or even decline if funcom change the ability for players to make gold quickly. A bug might cause the drop rate for the epic to increase for a week or two, flooding the market and resulting in a surplus of supply, which may result in the price for the item being reduced significantly.
