Rare Chest Drops (big steel chests) : EverQuest 2 General Discussions

Got my first Master I spell from this type of chest. Played all through beta, and never saw one of those until now!

Anybody know if they are rare or ultra rare?

Ultra rare.

But obviously they only drop in zones where the spell would be applicable to the level. Your not going to see a steel chest drop in Oakmyst since Steel chests have masteries in them.

These start dropping in the zones you'll be exping in at around 30+ prolly closer to 35 from what i've seen.

Yes, these steel chests with master I spells drop in all zones. If you are in teir 1 zone, it will usually drop a master I spell for a tier 1 spell. Note, not all spells have a master I drop.

Silver chests aka Steel chests are very very rare. They drop either master 1 spells/skills or gear. the gear can have regen/FT or be weapons with procs. also suposedly there are Runed chests that are more rare then silver chests but that could just be a rumor. personally i played all through beta and live so far and have yet to see anything but wood chests =(

Got a master quick strike from a steel chest in Forrest Ruins last night. Drop came from the top area of the ruins from one of the big rock golems.

What did this big steel chest look like? I discovered one while swimming out in the ocean that I cannot unlock. I doubt its the same thing though. I was out screwing around trying to get my swimming skill up and came across the chest. Has anybody else found this? Is there a way to open it up? It has a purpose I think because when I mouse over it, it says "Locked Treasure Chest" When I killed the easy encounters that were around the chest, newer harder encounters spawned in less than a minute. I was alone and not strong enough so got the heck out of there.

Our group got one after killing Lord Everling. It had three items. Two were the same junk we had seen all through the castle, but the third was an attuneable scimitar, Oakmyst Scimitar or somesuch. Our SK still uses it at level 39 and it is still yellow to him. It kicks the crap out of the pristine forged feysteel scimitar.

i got a master spell drop off of group of the books that fly around the SH library. No chanter in the group and i won the lotto. still trying to sell/trade the damn thing.

i got the master spell iniquity from a regular beetle in crypt of betrayal... it was awesome sold it for 36 gold

I have seen one drop in TS fighting Centaurs. I did not win it though =( I think it was an evil spell.

I have heard about some guys that found a master spell in BB they where only lvl 14 + so most of them died.

I did find one in TS lvl 23+

well i was with a group in RoV near the tome of death and from it dropped one of those steel chests... dropped some sheild and a kick !@#$%^* bracer... i was too low but they were keepin me safe but i wasnt grouped with them just kinda folllowing them

I got a Master 1 spell for my healer at lvl 12 in Oakmyst from a HUGE chest - taller than my High Elf. We had a party of 3 fighting the guardians. First of it's kind that ever dropped for me.

I have seen countless metal chests / master chests (yes, thats what theyre called ingame (highend)

This is how they work:

A master chest can drop from any mob in the gme. I only know of highend ones tho (40+) but its something like 1/100-1/200 on nameds, and 1/10000-1/20000 on normal mobs. This is the ~chances of them dropping.

A master chest can hold a 'Fabled' item or a master spell.

A master spell is a random (almost always) spell from the zone loot table.

However, a Fabled item is very nice, have about double # of stats on them, far greater damage (if weapons) and often have procs.

A fabled item is locked to a certain mob, if you get a fabled item, you should know that the mob you got it form is the ONLY mob in the game dropping that item.

I have been hunting metal chests for 10 lvls (40-50) and ever since i hit 50. I thikn i have seen 80-100 of them. Winning maybe 15. Using what i can use, selling the rest. Standard price of 40+ master spells on my server is 2pp, if you get a good one its more like 5-8pp. I myself have about 50pp to my name, and no, I do not harvest and I do not tradeskill at all. So its a good moneymaker, however i spent months to find the good places and things like that. Figure out patterns and spawn times etc. and youre on your way.
