farming master chests : EverQuest 2 Premium Discussions

hey, i dunno if this is a bug or an exploit, but in runnyeye the named there drop master spells almost every time. i am level 58 and have a level 44 friend, and together we have gotten over 20 master chests. i'll post a picture showing where the named that we went to were later. (ultra super tired from all that turkey =P ) these are t4 chests btw

EDIT: I found a new spot to farm t5 master chests. Go to Cazic Thule, upper side, and on the top to the two smaller pyramids are a group of lizardmen, they have a 15 min respawn timer, and if a named spawns there is a very high chance of it dropping a master chest.
In my opinion you get more master chests from runnyeye, but in cazic thule the rewards are a lot better

All named? One type (eye, mino, gobbie)? Or just a specific one?

yeah, all named except a guy...named...like a shattered peice of iron, otherwise else, every named

Shatterd is a quest mob.

SOE announced they were upping drops in dungeons, specifically RE, BB and a few others. This is working as designed. A couple of notes:

a) It is not everytime (but usually a better chance than not).

b) You can also do the 2 instanced zones for Steel (access no longer required)

and lastly

c) Get there now, because now that it has been posted, it will be changed. We all know SOE will change something, even if it is working, if people are finding a way to use it for fun.

OMG you are acting like you discovered America.

SOE increased chance of master chest drops from named, also regular mobs drop master chests now (very low chance [almost as low as it was before from named], but i have seen 1 drop from a regular scarecrow in RV)

this is known, most of the people that know how to read saw it in the last update notes... the chance seems a 'bit' high, but it has been like this for a long time now and SOE intended this... before the drop rate was broken, that is why the market prices were so high, and named did not drop any items that were unique to the named... wich now they do like in eq1

this shouldnt be in exploits, because its not an exploit its a game wide known fact... SOE themselves told us in the update that the master chests will be more frequent now... to me it looks like the chance is 1/4 that you get a master chest, compared to before being like 1/1000... that is why there is a shitload of rares, legendary, and master 1 spells on the market for 1p or cheaper...

this is why there are alot more farmer bots in named areas, and places like RE are !@#$%^* packed with newbie farmer groups (leaving the rest of us to go xp in less populated... much quieter, xp whoring zones... because once we achieve tier 6 we all know that tier 1 - 5 farming while you should be xp whoring... is useless)

hehe yeah, actually was kinda funny how i found out, well how a guildie told me. i was killin for screamin mace and i killed the cenobite and then everyone in my guild was like >< WTF!! and i was like huh? and they were like omg green out the names, they drop master chests way often, and ever since i brought my friend to farm =P

Rare tradeskill components can now be found on certain named creatures in Desert of Flames. As with the recent changes to Varsoon, Runnyeye, and Cazic-Thule, the best places to get the best stuff are inside dungeons.

As a 60 Inquisitor with a guildmate on an alt, I was able to farm about 40 metal chests in CT over the course of two nights.

Just FYI, it *is* a bug. Rates were increased, but one guild pulling over 40 Master spells in a night with a master chest rate of well over 50% on named was not what they meant to do.

From the Dev post:

"We did intend to increase drop rates in some zones, but it appears to have hit more zones than desired and the rates are greater than intended. We're going to be fixing the Master chest drop rates soon."

So farm it while you can, and thanks lordannoyoboy.

This in in reference to the adjusted drop rates that were patched yesterday for DoF, Runnyeye and Cazic Thule should still be fairly safe.

Personally, for the DoF zones, I think this is a good move as I managed to farm about 10 master spells in about 2 hours farming level 50-55 no arrow mobs in the Clefts.
