Is it possible to run EQ2 in multiple instances.

I have a second account for my Vendor and want to keep him on while I do my crafting macro.

Please help.

Why don't you just try running two, both in windowed mode

Was told that since EQ2 doesn't do anything to the registry when you start it up, all you need to do in order to run two instances of it is copy the entire EQ2 game into another directory and run it from there. Haven't tried this out, have 3 computers to run EQ2 and I wonder if any of them could run two copies anyway if I tried, but at least it's something for you to attempt.

I made a copy in another folder and run 2 at a time on my computer. 1.5gig ram, 1.3ghz amd and it runs somewhat choppy at low graphics settings.

Sweet thanks guys...
I have a server and 4 pc's but only 2 have the appropriate graphics card.
Mine and my wifes....
She plays that new Vampires game.
I have not converted her to EQ yet. I really need a housekeeper... I mean a provisioner. HEHE.

I really hate when she wants to play on her computer and take my Vendor out of the game... LOL

Hi all.. just a note.. you do not have to install eq2 into a second directory. I had two accounts for a while.. and ran a merchant on one... and played on the other. I just launched them both from the same EQ2 folder... just make sure you log/launch one game 1st.. then go to the 2nd one

You can run multiple copies.. Just begin logging in after the 1st one as made it past the first 2 login screens. You don't even have to be in window'd mode.

I will start one, agree to the EULA, then enter user name and password. Select Auto Login to a individual person.
Click New Copy of EQ II, agree, Enter User name and password. Auto Login to a 2nd person.
I prefer auto login to a individual b/c i don't have to watch that I got all the way in.

Set your 1st person to merchant, lower your window and play...
infact, you could open up 5 or 6 copies.. most i've ran at once were 4... 3 minimized and 1 playing.. just to see if it would work.. yes, i have 4 accounts lol... i have a wife and 2 sons that play...

I found that running the copies that you don't plan to access minimized tended to releave stress from the system therefore allowing your main one to process better and perform better... lol i'm @ work so can't type for crap...

Long story short:
1) Open EQ II (click your shortcut to EQ II)
2) Accept EULA and then log in, select your character, and turn on auto login
3) All the way logged in? set up trader mode and minimize the window
Skip 4-7 if you are going to only have 2 copies of EQ open.
4) Open EQ II again (click your shortcut to EQ II same as before)
5) Accept EULA and then log in, select your character, and turn on auto login
6) All the way logged in? set up trader mode and minimize the window
7) Repeat 4-6 as necessary

8) Open EQ II again (click your shortcut to EQ II same as before)
9) Accept EULA and then log in, select your character, and turn on auto login
10 ) Play EQ on last one

You can easily run multiple instances of EQ2, just follow the instructions already given. One comment though - do not make multiple copies of your EQ2 directory to run those multiple instances from. Due to Windows cacheing and stuff, this will just eat up much more ram. You only need the one install of EQ2 to run as many instances as your rig can handle, which is probably 2 at most with a decent rig.

I have run 4 on the one PC. Just have enough memory.

PS Merchants use less memory

I Tried to run two and it works fine as long as I have one minimized. I have dual lcd's with 256 radeon pro 9800 video card and 2 gigs of ram with a 3.2 mhz. If I put one eq2 instance in each monitor it gets choppy even at low graphics. I am going to buy a second video and see what happens.

I didn't think EQ2 supported dual monitor or multiple card setups? Thought I read that on the tech. forum.

I run EQ2 on a dual monitor system constantly. I have EQ2 on the right monitor, and usually a web browser on the left.
If you use an nVidia card, you can also have the two act as a single monitor if you wanted to set up EQ2 to span the two.
