A few DAYS to get MAX LVL!!! And Solo too : FFXI General Discussions

I think the difference between WoW and FFXI is that FFXI is actually fun... Lvling with other ppl and socializing is alot more fun then solo lvling in WoW.

I would rather enjoy when i lvl up a job then be bored as hell.

I just came to the FFXI boards because I played a while back and I played for a loooong time. To clear things up, you will not hit lvl 60 in WoW in days. The only way to progress so quickly is to buy pling services online in which someone is always sitting at a comp lvling your character and even then it takes a lot of time. The reason its possible that quickly is because you will get your character back with the absolute worst possible armor and nothing else. How long would it take you to lvl if you never had to lfg and never had to do your af quests and such.

"WoW is for ppl that play just for something to do. There is no challange in it at all" Have you ever played the game?? LOL there is plenty of challenge to it trust me. Now I will give you that you dont face such a challenge that you dare not venture outside of town without a party but thats part of the appeal of the game. I beat Kirin and the HNM's and I ran CoP missions to near the end so you cant say that I am not someone who knows of the challenge you speak of. WoW allows a player to log in and do something if hes only got 1-2 hrs to play instead of sitting in jeuno looking at the AH all night because he has nothing to do but sit lfg.

Now I do have to say. The types of players that are turned out of ffxi are the players that I would want next to me in the 40 man raids of WoW. FFXI requires you to know what your doing or you dont make it very far where as in WoW their are players that I am 100% sure have never heald a game controller in their entire life (_ _) just please dont group players like me in with people like that.

Uh, I got level 60 priest in 6 days of playtime... No PLing, just standard grinding til your eyes bleed.

Defenitelly doable.

It's a sign of the quality of WoW that by the end I just reading a book while pressing 5, 3, 4, 2, 3, 2, 6 and watched the screen again when I heard the mob die. If you don't even need to watch the screen while fighting but only to find a new mob it's too easy.

Raids in WoW, sure they're nice and all... but to be honest I just grew bored and felt total apathy toward ever playing WoW again after grinding gold/faction08 for X^19 hours.
If you could only raid, sure maybe I'd have stuck around, sadly you can't "only" raid in WoW, at least not when in full purple and wiping to new content.

Most pickup groups make you want to scream endlessly in pain. Most people around you are greedy !@#$%^&*. In the end you just play with a few people in guild plus some you meet on the way to 60 / through said guild mates.


Not saying ffxi is perfect, far from it, but I'm still playing ffxi and I'm not playing wow. Everyone I know who left ffxi for wow has returned, everyone I know in RL has quit wow, all friends I know online have quit wow. Almost everyone I met in wow has quit. It's a sign.

You must not know very many people because WoW hasnt been losing players it has been gaining them. Even with all the bans that take place they have still had to open up numerous new servers because of the flood of new players. Also seeing as its the mmo with the greatest number of players currently I think this "sign" that you see is something that you share with your irl friends and thats all.

Hmm, I know about 60 people who've quit WoW, about half of those I knew before I started playing WoW, the rest I grouped with frequently.
And yes, WoW is growing, NEW people are coming into the game and many remain, I know.


World of Warcraft is a game that lures you in with instant gratification, then rewards you with endless grinds, it's when people get fed up with those grinds they either make a twink or tire and quit.
I have no doubt FFXI is even more of a grind, but at least I'm having more fun playing FFXI for whatever reason.

Blizzard did many things right, but the game is also too small and to make people at least do something they make us grind faction / gold. Yay, so fun... I've exped in I think almost every area of WoW, since I've taken multiple characters to 60 (it was fun for like 3 months after all), I'm still finding new spots in FFXI, I still have quests to do, and hell, I still have jobs I can level on my main character! omg class change without losing everything!
Heck, even Blizzard has admitted faction grinding was something poorly implemented at the last minute.


Now lets see, what can you do at 60 in wow:
Raid: this is cool if you're in the high end part, MC is boring...
Grind faction: this is not cool.
Grind gold to support raiding: this is cool, to a limit. Having to grind gold for Naxxramas access is ghey...
PvP: this is cool... but...
Wait in Battleground queues: 9 hours to enter Alterac Valley? wtf... 1 hour for 10 man bg? no, I'm not rerolling horde unless I get a blood elf.
Questing: neat, if there were any left after a few days...
Making a twink: omg yes! no gear done, no faction done, no quests done, you have to tell everyone you know to add another name to their friends list... limited appeal...
Raid with twinks: omg die...

FFXI is a game that needs a hella lot of time and most of that time is wasted Looking for pt's and !@#$%^&*.

Thats the cool thing about WoW, you can get a group going while your grinding in the mean time... and when you get a group, just mount up and run to the nearest area of your faction hope on a bird and fly to whereever the group wants to go xp...

And instances are nice because you never run into another group while your in there...

WoW was designed for a simple-minded and younger crowd. Hence the (IMO) terribly childish graphics and ease of acheiving high levels in short times. FFXI is more complicated (just look at how you have to level crafting skills :Q) and takes more involvment (ie. you have to work with others to acheive higher levels, better gear, etc.)

I tried playing WoW after spending a month of FFXI... My friend was like, "OMG! This game is awsome! Its so much fun! But it takes so long to level." And then he complained about it... I of course, felt I had to be the nice friend, and introduce him to the wonderful world of FFXI. 5 minutes later, he goes home... Sucks himself right back into WoW... What a waste of a game...And he didn't even learn the lesson...

Lesson: No matter how long something take you to do, there is always something that is taking longer for someoen else.

Ya i'm one of the people that quit FFXI then went to WoW (which sucks) and i only went to WoW because my friend played it...but it ended up a total waste because it got really boring at lvl 47 and my friend quit like 5 months after i started. And when i quit i couldnt get my old character back so i had to make a new one which is the one i am playing right now so really WoW was the biggest waste of my time...i dont know about all u other WoW addicts but clearly FFXI has better graphics and better story lines over all
