Fishing level 60.. : FFXI General Discussions

Ok, so I'm sure soo many of you know so please don't get down on me for asking >< But ok i'm lvl 60 fishing and since the recent update ive found i can no longer profit on moats very well...I need a suggestion for where i can bot to skill up and where i can to make money now. I'm lvl 56 so i shouldnt get aggroed in most of the places suggested. Thank you in advance if you reply. O.o btw i 4got to mention i don't have a shang and if you could plz say what rod/bait in the places you suggest ^^ Good day all.

Most fishing requires lu shang to be decently profitable.

I know >< but there must be some profitable thing I can fish w/o that rod. I mean sure I'd buy it if i could afford it but unfortunately I am poor (which is why I'm asking). Honestly, I could give up fishing if i could come up with some other craft that I could do that would be profitable but you can't really beat making money while your not even playing. Aw well, I'll keep scaning the board for other ways of making money w/o starting with a bunch.

Im deciding to post here because i too am now lvl 60 fishing and really need somewhere to make decent gil. I can fish every zone i think ( i'm lvl 64) I need to make good gil without having to dedicate the entire day to it... anyway lets keep this section alive cause right now its non existent

you can always make SOME gil but the fact must be faced that you cannot always target the big money fish in order to level and must outright take time leveling on dreadfully useless stuff in order to fish better on a rainy day. the forceful(genius) relocation of exchange to the ah rather than npc's has changed this somewhat but the axiom still holds true. no pain no gain.

i think at 60 i targeted bastore bream til 86 and black sole til 96. yes. i am sure of it.

i stoppe at 86 for lushang's and moved on after.
so technically youve passed the point of the axiom's gravity but perhaps new fishers will read and not lose heart. ^^

Hehe thanks for the slightly confusing.. but enlightening post. Do you know though, where I can fish up bastore bream, if anywhere, while botting?

i am 65 in skill , i have started bastore bream at lvl 56 fish , you can fish it a windurst port until 86

lol, what lvl should i get lu sahng im a noobie lvl 1 on this char but other my fishing lvl is atleast 50-60 but i screwed it up what lvl sohuld i get lu shangs rod

Short Answer: ASAP

Now keep in mind I had Lu Shang's BEFORE the newest update so I cannot vouch for post fishing update. But... After getting Lu's Rod, I was so pleased with it that I couldn't belive that I didnt' get it sooner. I waited until Lv. 60 Fishing to start questing Lu Shang's and I really wish I had started as soon as I could catch moats at Lv. 10 or so.

Again, this is with the OLD fishing system, but I would catch roughly 35-45% MORE fish in an overnight session with Lu's versus Composite, which is what I liked before. That translates into alot more money.

Belive it or not, its not really that hard to get Lu Shang's rod. The best way to get it is to fish up as much as you can while you dump spare gil into buying stacks of moats at the same time. In the words of Doc Brown: If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

if u get your char lvl up to 60+, i sugest you to fish at sea serpent grotto...use Lu shang+Shrimp Lure or Composite+Crayfish Ball if no Lu, u will catch Grimmonite (7k each on Shiva), Nebimonite (8k/stack shiva), Breams (10k/stack @ shiva)

but its very slow leveling there.
