how do TU bucks work? : FFXI General Discussions

hmm...i noticed that after posts posters gain something called TU bucks, i also noticed that in another topic it stated that one can use TU bucks to redeem a premium membership. im poor=( so i was wondering how many TU bucks u need for prem membership?
