Lu shangs guide : FFXI General Discussions

Latley i have been considering working towards getting lu shangs rod...but every time i do i get intimidated because i have always thought 10k fish is a bit much for a quest. I have been keeping track of my XUFISH log and see that i can catch about 45 fish in 2 hours....
is there a faster way to do this? any tips from some one who has lu shangs my skill is 27 should i wait till its higher?

you could wait til it's higher but why bother when you could be working twards the Lu Shang's and skilling up some? Also, I think they changed up the quest some, making the number of fish needed relate to your fame. My friend, who has hero fame, just got the rod with only about 6400 carp. I am currently at 7600 and still haven't gotten the rod, my fisherman has 0 Sandy fame..

Can we got some confirmation on a change that makes the quest require less fish now? That is an awfully big claim, and there has got to be someone on here with hero fame in sandy and has turned in 7k+ fish to let us know if they got the pole early.

I have Hero fame in Sandy and turned in 9,500 fish. I'm still not able to get the rod with that much, so I severely doubt that t's a valid statement. Unless of course the game just hates me, which is quite possible too.

Dude, if you are using XUFish and only catching 45 Moats in 2 hours you have some serious issues! I catch close to 150 in 2 hours...

1. Only target moats
2. Read the documentation and make sure that you have Hyperthreading disabled! (This will easily double your catch rate!)
3. The # of moats to turn in is still 10K
4. Get a couple of mules fishing also because the amount you can catch in one day is capped at 200 (resets at JP Midnight or 10am EST)

Now get to work and get that damn rod!

Why should some1 disable HT to catch more fish???

It's a WELL known issue and VERY well documented in the XUFISH STICKY! Scripts will run much, much slower with HT enabled (Don't believe me try it and you'll see the fish jump out of the water)

There is at least 6 "safe" places to fish for moats being that I don't know your char lvl. Fish Knightwell in W. Ronf, Rollanberry, or La Theine Plateau in the small lake in the valley. You can always fish in N. Sandy, Wind Waters, Wind Walls, etc also for "safe" fishing. Also I have been pretty much capping out on moats (200) after 2hrs 15min.

Okay i tried to set the CPU accessbility to CPU1 and you are right the script runs like hell. Thank you for posting me (the lazy guy) the link to the well written documentation.

I got one last question. Always when i hit F10 to Access the Script Setup it stopps all scripts and FFXI will hang up.

How to configure advanced features
1) Set useStatistics to true if you want a statistics window, use F10 to toggle the window on and off when true

F10 is for the stats window, if you don't have it enable it may lock you up like you said. Not sure, I'll have to pass that one to asl18fs but I think that is an error that has happened in the past.

Due to an XUnleashed bug F10 crashes the script.

Okay another question concerning XUFish 3.6 everytime i hit the "Pause" function the entire script freeze and even when i try to start the whole thing new it wont allow me to start the fishing_basic.vbs script agein ... anny idea?

Press F8 to pause and F9 to resume, if it's still problematic post your xufish log.

last question am i able to edit the monsterfight script? As i am supposed to be a blm level 54 and i dont really want to fight with my staff at all

Edit it all you want, it's in fisher_functions.vbs I think.
Granted, I really suggest you skill the fighting stuff unless you're farming fished monsters. (Know several who do it using xufish on my server lol.)
