I think you got it right somewhere in that thoughtstream.

Essentially, you ONLY get stats from you current main and sub job. No other jobs.

So you saying you will keep the stats +abilities of your main job+subjob.

So if you manage to reach 75 warrior, then go 75 WHM, then 75 Monk you will only be able to choose one as a main job, and the other main jobs skills and abilities you wont be able to use them due to the fact they not selected as your main job.

So i could go 75Warrior/sub 30 WHM , in order for me to use my level 75 red mage spells+abilities, i will have to switch my main job to REDM75, but that process will make my deselection of the warrior 75 main job , therefore being unable to use the stats from that job, due to the fact now my main job is red mage, so the warrior stats are not usable.[/quote]

DING DING DING! We have a winner!

Also, another thing to consider with Main and Sub jobs is that there are certain combinations that are deemed "Silly", "Useless" or "Frowned apon".

Usually the most used combinations are best used in a party situation.

PLD/WAR, WAR/THF, WAR/MNK, WAR/NIN, NIN/WAR, THF/MNK, THF/WAR, THF/NIN, RNG/NIN, RNG/WAR, WHM/BLM, WHM/SMN, BLM/WHM, SMN/WHM, MNK/WAR, MNK/THF, DRK/THF, DRK/WAR, SAM/WAR, SAM/THF, RDM/WHM, RDM/BLM, BRD/WHM, DRG/WAR, DRG/THF, and (not quite as useful anymore) DRG/SAM.

BSTs don't usually party, but WHM is usually considered the best sub for it.

These combinations have been tried, beaten, tortured, and sodimized until they were considered the norm. Using a SJ not normally used in a party situation can most often cause you to not get invites, or quite possibly gimp your party.

You can have any SJ you want when not in a party.

It's also frowned apon when your SJ is not exactly half your level or if you do not have a subjob and you are level 20 or higher and actively seeking a party.

Now, all this may seem wrong, or rude, or even a bit silly, but FFXI is a multiplayer game and you have to play by the norm or get left in the dust.

Also forgot BLM/RDM and SAM/RNG seems popular for a couple of levels. I don't mean to criticize though, just wanted to add a couple more possibilities, I'm sure there are more that we missed too.
