What job makes the Best Tank? : FFXI General Discussions

I have seen both in action. I have to say over all Ninja make the better tank espicailly after lvl 12. You get 2 Ninja and your set. At higher lvls one does fine.

Plds can keep hate a little better but both have problems keeping hate with SC MB. Not all keep in mind. Overall Hate Control Pld is better.

Dealing Damage. Ninja are better. Especially at higher lvls.

Taking Damage the Pld takes more hits but. I good Ninja doesnt get hit at all. Also Debuffs are absorb by shadows so I have to say over all Ninja take Damge better too.

If I really have to choose one, I would have to say ninja. However, it really depends on the level.

Early on, I would have to say ninja with the dual tanking. Later on, I would have to say PLD because ninja would be useless (for my mnk anyway) unless I hold back so ninja can keep hate (yes, this is with a thf). It was always fun to me when PLD's pissed when I take aggro from them and they get mad about it. End game I would have to say ninja. Tanking of the Gods, ninjas are mighty useful.

With all due respect, this is a pretty stupid question. Depending on the situation sometimes I think apples taste better, and other times I would prefer an orange. You can't really compare them since they are not the same thing

One of my best friends in the game is 75 war, nin, pld and he comes as different things depending on the situations.

Paladin: King Behemoth, Tiamat
Ninja: Nidhogg, Most NMs
Warrior:Aspidochelone, Kirin

When it comes to exp parties.. I think Paladin is kind of useless IMHO. I only like to exp on easy VT mobs for 10ke exp/hour.. and Paladins just don't play that role well. They can't keep hate when the melee are doing 200+ damage/round, nor do they contribute any real damage to kep the chain going.

On other things.. Ninja is kind of worthless. When Timat went in the air it was skullfucking the Ninja that tried to tank it so bad... we had to retreat with everyone watching.. was embarasing. At least we tried it with a ninja though

I'd say the Paladin makes the best looking and performing Tank by far. A Ninja has its place elsewhere.

WAR/NIN by far best end-game tank.
