Very simple. Go to your modem, and press the standby button, this will make you d/c. Now zone. Wait 10 seconds, restore connection. You will have zoned.

take care: You must d/c before you warp!!!

Note: This ONLY works with zones that arent very bid (It can be done for example in sandy or in crawlers nest, but if you try it in meriphataud it wont work)

Why risk the rare, but undeniable problem of corrupt account information with unclean shutdowns when a simple /logout achives the exact same effect.

Whilst I hold no inside knowledge of the ffxi db internals, i'd assume a zone event probably involves database transactions, which would translate to an increased risk of character corruption.

The /logout fix is widely documented, FWIW.

The data ffxi complains about losing on a bad shutdown is macro and config settings.
The data ffxi complains about losing on a server shutdown (aka, when going down for patching) is exp / current position / possibly items.
The data ffxi complains about losing when you shutdown pol wrong is mail / config in pol.

Aka, this means:
Unless the server goes down your character can NEVER be damaged by anything you do unless you're sending corrupt data to S-E with the intention of breaking the protocol, pulling out your network cable hardly qualifies as that.

The submission above probably exploits a loophole in the zoning code for people about to go linkdead.

Common sense isn't all that common.

One time on a mule account I was messing around with pos and flee tool in Batallia Downs. I logged in at Batallia Downs, and after I used the tools I didn't zone. Then I hardbooted and when I logged in again I was in same spot as when I logged in before. :x

I use this to zone in towns/dungeons/small areas all the time. It's like mrzone is revived for those places ^^
