Not only is the combat more engaging than most games, it’s also significantly more diverse. The idea of action spell casting is rarely as well-implemented as in Tabula Rasa. You can freeze a grunt, run up to him and blast him with a shotgun, then finish him off with a roundhouse to the face, delivering not only a death blow, but an intensely satisfying crunching noise that lets you know he’s good ‘n’ dead.
