eq2 crashes on startup : Legacy General Discussion

when I try to get eq2 to start I get as far as my char. zoning into the eq2 world. then I suddenly get a "eq2 has encountered a problem and needs to shutdown" message. can anyone help me with this?

Try reinstalling eq2?

sorry, let me be more precise. when I try to start eq2 with the xunleashed client my eq2 gets about halfway through char. log in and then crashes. when I start eq2 without the client it starts fine. how can I remedy the problem of the xunleashed client from crashing eq2?

uncheck the tcpip packet sniffer plugin

tried your suggestion but it didn't work. still getting this error when I am about halfway to zoneing in with my char.

ok...got eq2 to launch. I disabled the map plug in.

If you are on a AMD machine you MUST have the AMD Temp Fix GUI installed else that will crash you.

Not running amd but problem is fixed. You still pointed me in the right direction. The plugin had a revision number but for somereason it was coming up as saying unknown. Thank you for your patience and help. I start taking programming classes next semester so then maybe I can return some of the help to others.
