Ok i am the subject of the vista downfall.

I HATE VISTA!

i just bought a new machine.. *sorry for my luck huh*
all that money spent for this machine and nothing i mean nothing runs with it..

so anyways enough of whining.. so i get this bright idea.. HEY ill just throw XP on my computer..

oh i did that alright... and it loaded great... but every darn thing is intergated.. Nvidia Network controllers.. which is only vista compataible...

sorry i guess my question is .. is there a way to load xp back on my machine without losing my existing drivers on the machine????

gawd this is killing me.. i swear if i dont get this fixed.. ill just sling it out the window and buy a year old machine until people start making things vista compataible

I'm not exactly sure what going on here. so let me get this strait:

You buy vista, You buy a new computer. You install vista, and you install Vista drivers. You install XP, but nothing works because you have vista drivers, not xp ones.

now your asking if you can get new drivers for xp without loosing the old ones/reformatting?

um, k. You should probably just be able to download and install the xp compatible drivers. simple as that. Go to the manufacturers site, search your product, and download the XP compatible drivers. You CANNOT use Vista drivers in a XP machine if thats what you wanted to know. Now, if you have a huge hard drive (well, it doesn't have to be that huge) you could partition your HD and do a dual boot setup, where you have a choice to boot either Vista or XP, but it looks like you've done to much damage for that to be an option now. anyways, heres a good link if you'd like to look into it.

anything else you need can be found on google

Not sure if I answered you question, so if I didn't, just ask again.

no i bought a new machine with vista already installed on it.. with intergrated stuff that only supports vista drivers.

i have a nvidia network controller which from my search i dont see xp drivers supporting that ..

so when i try to put xp on this machine it loads fine.. but no drivers are loaded.. so i cant access the net no sound.. nothing..

im thinking at this point i may end up having to buy a network card, sound card, i already have a separate video card.

but i did look on nvidia site and the machines site.. both saying only supporting vista drivers. thats it

network adapters -nforce nvida network controller
nforce pci system management
nvidia nforce 430/410 serial ata controller

pretty much those above are the ones im having problems with

oh I see. If the manufacturer doesn't make XP drivers for those cards, then you may have to buy products that do have XP support, as you suspected. Its odd that a manufacturer would have Vista drivers, but not XP ones.

There's no intelligent answer anyone can give you for that question. However the answer is simple: Replace everything that only has vista compatible drivers on your new system with stuff that has XP capable drivers.

The answer is simple but the task is probably fairly arduous. I know you probably wanted a nice little answer but there is none.
