I havent tried this method but it looks like a great way for you to easily save your account. Basically its just creating a character then deleting it to bind it to your account for 24 hours. Check it out.
You can create a character to save a name by just jumping to the last page and then delete the character and remake the character. This method "binds" the name to your account for 24 hours and allows you to grab the names you want for your character or characters.

This is a feature of the game.

So yes select race, click move to end in bottem right corner and put in a name.

Most decent names are already taken unfortunetly, with the whole all character names from Guild wars are already reserved.
