Using the Mystic Forge for weapons and armor it’s a gamble, but if you have 4 duplicated pets, or dyes (which are not trade-able) it’s better to forge them than to occupy your inventory space.

Miniatures (or mini-pets) are downsized versions of NPC models which can be summoned to follow a player around. They do not fight or add any combat advantage.

Acquisition:
A Minis Pack containing 3 randomly selected miniatures (2 common and 1 uncommon) can be purchased from the Gem Store for 300Gem. Miniatures may also be obtained using the Mystic Forge and four miniatures of the same rarity.

Miniatures have your character's guild tag appended to their name while active.

Mini Pets are NOT Ranger Pets

Pets are permanent AI-controlled NPC allies which are the ranger's special profession mechanic. A pet has a family, such as bear, which determines most of their skills and its general attributes. Its species, such as a polar bear or a brown bear, determines a unique skill. Its type; aquatic, terrestrial or amphibious, determines which environments the pet is able to operate in.

The ranger has limited control over the actions of their pet; they can set the aggressiveness of the pet and activate a skill, otherwise a pet's action is automatically controlled and based on what the ranger does in combat.

A ranger can have any number of tamed pets, but only four pets are immediately available to call into battle and only one can be active in the world.
