This scam(?) ever happened to you.. or have you done it? : GW Guide Discussion

Hello everyone.

No, I didn't get scammed, and I've never done this, but kind of warning people. I've read stories like this on other forums.

Goes like this. You take someone with 1337 weapons (Lets say, Tormented Tactics Shield) out to an explorable area. You somewhat gain their trust, and you want that person to drop it on the ground and pick it up again. The person with the weapon drops it, and as soon as he does it, the other person uses a skill like Return (All adjacent foes are Crippled for 3...7 seconds. Teleport to target other ally's location.) on them, and quickly picks up the item, and logs off. So now the person has NO Tormented Tactics Shield, and guess what, this sometimes will not get you banned, even if you report. Heck, even if you do get banned, a simple e-mail to NCSoft will let you access your account again, although I do not know whether you can keep that item or not. Even if you don't, it's not like it's going to go back to the original owner. Makes me wonder what ArenaNet does to those items.

as the proffesional in this sector (*sarcasm* buts its in the ask a pro section, why i dont know), i must say that no, i havent been hit by this or done it to anyone.

This sounds extremely hard to pull off, and you'd have to have someone really stupid to drop their equipment in a explorable zone.

Haha, I know, but then of course, there's 4 million people playing. Well, about 3.8 million since about 200,000 are bots. In 3.8 million, there's bound to be at least some dumb people who somehow got 1337 items.

Got to be dumb to fall for that xD

one of my group members had that happen to him. some assassin teleported next to him and took his weapon. he lost his Droknars Sword (but i felt bad for him so i bought him a new one)

I could see this happening to someone, everyone be careful! There are alot of bad gamers out there.

You can access your account after its been banned?
