Have you run across that large group of mobs that just are a little too overwhelming? Instead of engaging in a desperate fight for your life, exploit their AI and their movement mechanics.

run a lap around them. get them all chasing you.

then run in a single direction ( a direction you have already cleared of hostiles!) and occasionally throw an attack behind you with a stun/knockback like effect. Even if it is only .25 second stun.

You will notice that they are starting to spread out. They are not all able to follow at the same speed.

Portal back to town.

Wait a couple seconds then return. And take off running in the same direction as before.

Only a handful of the enemies will pursue. Pick them off. Then follow the line of straglers back to where the main group was.

you will most likely encounter the enemies 3-4 at a time now and should be able to easily take that overwhelming group apart now.
