Why do you still play? : FFXI General Discussions

I seem to come back every few weeks and rant.

But please enlighten me. Why do you still play FFXI?

Isn't there so many better things to do that involve standing, running, moving, and seeing sunlight?

Maybe workout your arms instead of your fingers?

Have some lemonade with the ol' buds?

Take your girlfriend or your mother out on a nice date?



I am utterly sick of this game. It was cute and all and for a good 2-3 years on and off it captured my heart. Now it's like a ugly psycho girlfriend who just sticks around and bothers me. I seem to check this forum now and then when I'm around in the mornings.


I quit FFXI and became a 2nd lieutenant (rotc). Now my life has more meaning! Fighting real bad people with guns and training new drop outs how to kill bad guys too!... How lame. Don't do army it's boring unless your doing special forces =) I'm gonan try to get a waiver to try out for BUD's

i said the same thing bout a week and a half ago, asked ppl in game why tehy still play aswell and nothin. just a few "thats a very good question", i realized if i died id mean nothin to almost no one. so im gettin my life back up and im sure ill play later on but im taken care of my old school problems and moven to a new better less dangerous !@#$%^&* city , somewhere where it rains alot... thats where im gonna go.

FFXI was cool man... what happened? lol

time happens. once we step out of it , its usually when life gets boring and when you want more than even what ff can offer. atleast thats the best i can describe it, i jus want more. i still will play in the future im sure but , one of the things taht woke me up the most was when i went outside , and i squinted cuz of the sun LOL, i became what i made fun of so much... -_-

I play the game because I'm bored and have a made a few friends online. We found out we live somewhat close together and since have went to the bar a few times. The game is addicting, but you just have to stop playing when you have had enough. Its only a game

hmm, 7 years in the military so far and I have never had a boring moment. Yes, I've hate my job a couple times but I did that before joining. If you are trying out for special forces or whatever because you feel you might have something to prove to someone; my suggestion is: don't do it. You need to do that for yourself. -- half my family tree has been in the military and quite a few in Rangers, TACP, USMC-FR ... I originally signed up for Pararescue in the AF because it looked fun and I wanted to prove to my family/friends I could do it. I stayed there for 2 years and cross trained into a biomedical electronics maintenance field. My high school best friend, joined the with the Rangers and later tried out of some other specops deal with the Army. He has since got out of the military and now works at an auto garage repairing cars. I have 2 degrees [BS/Electrical Engineering and AAS/Tech.Management/OSHA], have worked if 5 different countries and loved nearly every minute of it.

Awesome job w/ ROTC ... you will make a lot more money than I will enlisted. Just please don't become like those academy cadets when they join the real military ... they believe they are better than every enlisted when the truth of the matter is, most of them cannot even tie their shoes without someone looking over their sholders.

I come on just to pass some time and mostly to help out my noob bro.

I still play because i enjoy playing and when i dont enjoy it any more i will quit plain and simple.

I workout, hang out with friends, Good life. But one problem Im too Addcited to online games, when I try to quit I always manage to somehow see myself sit back on my computer. Its just too addicting and the end I will realize that there was no point wasting 100s of hours on the computer, but what da hell, Im still young lol

Haha might as well waste your time away on it while you still have the time to waste.

haha yeah its actually not that bad. I think ever enlisted guy is too hardcore. I respect even the privates to a degree.

I finished college with two degrees Dual in Managment and Technology + Economics and single in law JD some weird !@#$%^&* program in my school. I left my options open so I can do something useful if Military doesnt work out for me. I have a mandatory 4 year active 4 year reserve I have to see through.

I did ranger training when i was in rotc. Im hoping I can try out for navy seals I heard its really hardcore. Not really doing it to prove anything to anyone but myself. I think it'll be a lot of fun to do.
