Well before we send this to a tech we want to make sure you have done everything. Have you checked the faq for a fix to this problem?

Q: Im getting a can not load Direct3d error with XUnleashed.
A: Make sure you have fraps, antivirus programs, nview, ect turned off.

Q: What settings should i have for FFXI
A:
1. Do not use external windower, archbel or jp just dont use it.
2. Launchpath: ...\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\polboot.exe
replace with yours.
3. Use Dialong Option unclick the rest of this box
4. Select
- Use Random FileNames
- Force Redraw
- Ignore DirectInput
- Hook DX 8
5. Cleared the rest

tried all of this, i dont have fraps and antivirus programs are off and not sure what nview is or how to turn it off.

ok was messing around with all these setting and everything and got it to work some what. The game starts but no matter what it goes to full screen mode. I tried playing in full screen mode and cant get the XU toolbar to come up. Ctl + ins + 1 doesnt work either. i tried all the suggestions in the FAQ but still nothing.

if you ever used azarils windower, thats probably your problem.

i read a long, long time ago that when you use windower to update FFXI, some things get written in the wrong place (something along those lines) however, if i remember correctly they fixed this. chances are it wasnt fixed fully.

you could reinstall or keep using azarils windower. Im not sure if check files works

I had this issue with mine also. All I had to do was go into FFXI config and set it to default, then reset the res I wanted and uncheck the opening movie box. I think it has something to do with using windower at a resoltion not supported by your pc, it changes the resolution in ffxi's config. Anyways try that if you havent got it working yet.
